This set of necklace and earrings were created using the ancient graffito technique on 24-karat pure gold leaf or white gold leaf.
A special preparation adheres the gold leaf to the Murano glass.
Then, using a very thin metal tip, the gold leaf is slowly and patiently engraved until the desired decoration is achieved.
Finally, the glass is placed in a high-temperature kiln to firmly bond the gold to its surface.
The origins of this technique date back to the Roman era, more specifically to the Mosaic Period (3rd century AD).
