Murano Glass Slab with Hand-Engraved Gold Leaf

This Murano glass slab was created using the ancient sgraffito technique on 24-carat pure gold leaf.

Thanks to a special preparation, the gold leaf is made to adhere permanently to the Murano glass surface.

It is then carefully engraved by hand using an extremely fine metal tip, working slowly and precisely until the desired design emerges.

The origins of this technique date back to Roman times, more specifically to the so-called “Mosaic Period” (3rd century AD).
